@kidds_dad: @Paige did a video on this recently, and I thought it was such a great opportunity to explain to my son part of the mental load #dad #husband #parent #baby

I remember my dad always complaining that my mom shopped too much/too often (80s & 90s so no packages really) and was “spending all his money” so she said fine, and refused to do any shopping for a month. No cohesive meals, no clean laundry (ran out of detergent) no gas in the car, etc etc. Yeah, he stopped the complaining right quick.

My husband will say “thank you mommy” in front of our kids when packages arrive because 99% of the time it’s things for the kids or the house. He says it, then they usually say it too. I appreciate the acknowledgement of the mental load

My kids used to think this - MOM YOU ORDER SO MUCH STUFF. I started putting their names on it. They open it and then they had to put it away.

“that’s something that mom is really good at” it’s that simple, teaching respect for the things mom does, too. love this.

Holy shit you were BORN to be a Dad!!!! The way that you not only explained it so he could understand it, you were still so intellectual with the way you spoke to him about. That boy is going to be so smart!! You are an amazing Dad and husband for breaking down the mental load too!!! ❤️❤️

Yesterday my husband complained that I spent too much at target. I bought cleaning supplies, toothbrush, laundry detergent and softener, soap, and one piece of candy for myself. I made him read through the receipt to tell me where I was wrong.

Love this!! I saw another creator have “notice and do” time with her kids, to teach them to pick up on what needs to be done, not just tell them what to do. We’re starting it with our 4 yr old ☺️
