As a dermatologist, this is how I recommend over-the-counter shampoos to scalp and hair conditions: • Psoriasis → Coal tar shampoos (like T-Gel) help thin plaques and calm inflammation
• Dandruff → Ketoconazole shampoos (like Nizoral) target yeast overgrowth — prescription versions are slightly stronger. Other options include shampoos with zinc pyrithione like Head & Shoulders or CeraVe anti-dandruff shampoo. 
• Hair shedding → First, make sure you know the cause of the hair shedding (please see your dermatologist). If it’s stress-related temporary shedding like telogen effluvium or post-partum hair loss, try Shampoos with caffeine + peptides can help support hair follicle health. Minoxidil topical solution or foam 5% would be another great option to stimulate growth. #drheejink #haircare #scalpcare #bestshampoos #dermatologist
