I can see both sides. On one hand, the natural hair community could extend more grace. On the other hand, those who don’t feel comfortable wearing their natural hair should be mindful of the self-deprecating language they use. What’s really missing is open-mindedness. Are we actually willing to learn from each other? Because often, that unwillingness on both sides is what creates the clash.

I wear wigs all because I can’t seem to grow my hair so the cornrows under the wig helps a lot , would love to wear my natural hair but I’m waiting till it grows properly

I don’t hate my natural hair. There’s just a certain look that I wanted when It comes to my hair. And I couldn’t get that natural. That’s why I went relaxed. Simple as that

I’ve tried making videos saying if you’re going to have this discussion realize it’s a discussion rooted in trauma and pain, and it should be handled carefully. Not aggressively. We must be loving if we’re tryna spread the message of self love.

I will say this until I’m blue in the face. I have alopecia. My issue was never with texture or length. It’s the fact that I struggle with hair loss. It sucks to be judged either damn way. Can never win.

i swear everyones so pretentious 😭 i had a question for a natural hairstylist on here about protein treatments in regards to repairing heat damaged hair and the comments were dragging me for not knowing whether or not it would, whilist simultaneously not giving me answers. sometimes i feel like its just a lot of shaming, whether we want to learn how to care for our natural hair or not.
