SOME of the things I did in the house after my son was born. Cooked or picked up every dinner. Cleaned the kitchen nightly. Cleaned the bottles and pumping accessories, usually in batches for sanitizing. Laundry. Woke up for every feeding to handle the diaper changes. Took over the midnight feeding once we transitioned to a bottle. All the grocery shopping. So, much more.

What internet needs more now and in future is happy couples to speak up more. It's so depressing hearing soooo many bad stories and reading so many bad comments that all you think later is how world is so fucked up and nobody is good. 😳 <-- my face most of the time when I open tik tok, I honestly want only cats on my algoritam but there's still few good ppl around to listen and lose complete faith in humanity.

1000% my husband and I did shifts at night so guarantee we’d get at least 5-6 hours of sleep a night because my baby was so colicky that wasn’t going to happen. On average it would take us 2 hours to get her to sleep after a night waking when she was born to about 6 or 7 months. However there would be some nights that it would drag out for so much longer. The record was I started to try to put her to sleep at 6pm and finally had my spirit broken at 3am and got my husband who finally got her to sleep at 4:30am

so, i can offer scott a traditional alternative to being in the delivery room... if he has the balls for it.
story time: in north and central Croatia, there was a belief that imps and demons attack mother and child during birth to make them ill. the imps were supposedly attracted by screams during labour. so, my crazy ancestors had a plan. while the mother was giving birth in the barn with the village women caring for her, the father was in the bedchamber. his job was to get drunk while the village men beat him with sticks.l, malimg sure he was screaming louder than his wife. the idea was, the imps will hear screams and look at the bedchamber, expecting to find the mother there. but, psych, there is a bunch of drunk dudes there, armed with sticks, ready to beat the crap out of the imp.

Yep, personally did plenty in the first 6 months, including feeds, rocking to sleep, night wakings, and day trips alone with baby, etc! Also, after both kids, my wife had operations, which meant I was left alone in the room with the baby for hours, so special times 😊 Yep, Scott has no idea.

When I was born I wasn’t breathing bc the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck. It was a natural birth and they told my mother to stop! My father held my mother’s face so she wouldn’t look while they saved me & she said it was when she knew she married the right man.

my son woke up every two hours through the night for a feeding until he was probably 2? we both had to adjust our sleeping schedules to make it work, I ended up staying up until 2am-4am every day for well over a year because how could one adult possibly function after being woken up 5 times in the night to feed a child?

my son was also born not breathing, and they managed to get him to take a few breaths then he'd stop, then they'd get him to breath then he'd stop, and this continued for 30 minutes before he was finally breathing and crying like he should. he was also a c section. so the entire time I was literally tied to a table unable to move. my partner and I cried together as he cradled my head and re assured me. I can't imagine going thru ugh not knowing if my son would live or die for 30 straight minutes if he wasn't there with me. and he has said time and time again, he is so glad he was there with me. because no matter what the outcome we wanted to tackle that together.

There is nowhere else in the world i would have been. I dont think my wife lifted a finger for the first 48 hours other than feedings. And in the brief time when our son was in NICU for shallow breathing we were there for one another. Thankfully it was less pronounced than what you described so we didnt have that same fear to deal with. But I cannot imagine not having been there
