@nsw_socialists: Residents of these ten homes in Farr Street, Marrickville have been evicted. Developers are tearing down low-cost rentals in the Inner West to make way for luxury apartments. YIMBY lobbyists and the Labor government will tell you this is the “solution” to the housing crisis — but that’s nonsense. There’s no serious commitment to genuinely affordable housing here. NSW Socialists are preparing to run in the 2027 state election to fight for real solutions: mass public housing construction, rent caps, and housing treated as a human right — not a commodity. But we don’t take corporate donations. We rely on ordinary people. If you want to see a socialist alternative on the ballot in 2027, chip in to our election campaign fund today. Every donation helps us print materials, reach more people, and take on the major parties. 🔗 Donate via the link in our bio or here https://www.nswsocialists.org.au/donate
if the government can build luxury housing, they can build affordable housing,

Nothing wrong with denser living- it’s how it should be. Social housing can be built in regional areas. No need to be closer to the city.

well said, everytime this discussion comes up younger generation labels anyone asking questions as a NIMBY. These developments will only benefit the developers, they will not solve affordablity and community will be left with overcrowded public spaces and paying for defects once the builder declares bankruptcy and starts a new company.

What is the point of voting Labor if these are the policies they are pushing through, this and their staunch Israel support really makes you wonder.
