This is one of 100 reasons we couldn’t look away. Today, the first trailer load arrived, and if I’m being honest, it was even harder than I expected. Fourteen horses stepped off that trailer, each carrying their own story, their own history, and their own set of challenges. This gelding is one of them. He has a fractured pelvis and struggles to move. Looking at him, it’s impossible not to wonder how long he’s been carrying this burden and how many people saw it before deciding not to get involved. What struck me most today wasn’t just him. It was realizing that he is only one of fourteen. One horse with a fractured pelvis. Another with a severe leg injury. Others carrying old wounds, untreated conditions, years of neglect, or simply the effects of being forgotten. These aren’t the easy horses. They aren’t the horses most people are lining up to take home. They are the horses that require time, resources, patience, veterinary care, and a community willing to stand behind them. For months and years, many of these horses would have quietly disappeared from view. Instead, they are now standing in holding pens all across the country, waiting for someone to step forward and offer another option. That is why this work matters. Not because we can help every horse. We can’t. But because we can help some, and sometimes helping some is how bigger change begins. If you watched our live today, you saw exactly what came off that trailer. You saw WHY this matters. You saw why rescues and sanctuaries need support now more than ever. We’re fundraising for this first group because we want to keep going. We want to send another trailer. We want to continue showing up. We want to continue giving these horses the opportunity they deserve. Helping one horse is manageable. Helping fourteen is A LOT of work Helping hundreds requires an entire community pulling together and deciding these lives are worth fighting for. Are you with us?!.. for them.
