If he's getting kidney stones you need to get them a water fountain and change his food there is one at tractor supply that has an enzyme that breaks or helps to get rid of them it's like 40 bucks though

could be like feline long term dehydration idk I'm not a vet but ik if you have an older kitty they seem to not want to drink water as much and it could also be bc of their water bowl being too small for their whiskers or something else if it is the water try getting a thing that keeps the water running so it'll encourage him to drink more
