Depends on where you live. 30K gross is give or take 2000$ net each month. More than half of that would go to rent in cities like Toronto and Vancouver

Agreed. I started making $30k per month and after year 3 moved to the U.S. live in Texas now and I make $40k/month + and I keep 80% of my income :)

That only applies when you’re self-employed. Once you’re incorporated, your effective rate can be closer to 20%. As an employee, you have far less flexibility and generally bear a heavier tax burden. In reality, very few salaried individuals in Canada reach that level of income unless they’re earning commissions, and even then it’s uncommon. The smarter approach is to operate through a corporation and work with a strong accountant.
