Manufacturing across Britain has been destroyed by successive governments, allowing to be sold off to foreign investors or businesses who systematically move the business abroad, or simply close the business here in favour of their manufacturing facilities overseas, great business names are retained for the marketing potential only. Then “net zero” is championed over British manufacturing because they can simply move the emissions on a spreadsheet to somewhere else, the same emissions are being produced, but not in this country, a country of consumers not producers.

Remember the Leyland Tigers and the Atlantean busses. The Fishwick bus company used to run them from Leyland to Preston. Even that company has gone now outpriced with other bus companies outpricing them.

I used to work in the admin block in the typing pool there. My dad my husband and father in law worked in the engineering section. There's a?Morrisons store on the site where they worked and an Arnold Clarke on the site if the Admin block. A market on the site of North Works. A new market square is being built. Just truck assembly assembly now. We had Leyland Truck and bus Leyland paint and rubber works factories. All gone now. Morrisons store and New builds and they've called it progress.
