@rowancheung: Researchers at South Korea’s Pohang University of Science and Technology have developed a paper-thin robotic actuator inspired by myosin, the protein that powers muscle contractions. The POSTECH team's device contains dozens of microscopic air chambers arranged in multiple layers. When pressurized air flows through these chambers, tiny “feet” create push-and-return movements that propel the robot forward. Despite being just millimeters thick, the actuator can lift objects 77 times its own weight and navigate spaces with only three millimeters of clearance. The robot moves in six directions and operates safely underwater. Potential applications include minimally invasive surgery, where it could navigate the body's smallest passages, and industrial settings requiring inspection in previously unreachable confined spaces. who do you think will afford operations with such a robot?

C’est plutôt un système de propulsion, un système de déplacement au lieu d’un robot.

Wait, don't we have something that serves the same purpose already? And I remember that it was a lot lot lot smaller than this. But it's a cool invention, maybe apply it in something else.
