@foothillsgroup: How long should you let your turbo spool down? It's more than just a feel thing—giving your turbo 3 to 5 minutes to cool off after a hard run can prevent premature wear and costly repairs. Rushing it can lead to heat soak, damaging critical components and cutting your turbo's life short. Take a moment, protect your investment, and keep your fleet rolling strong. Act now to avoid breakdowns and delays www.foothillsgroup.ca
my dad always said idle and engine for 2min to let turbo spool down

Not how that works when everything is connected, it would be trying to push air through a non running engine, it’s not gonna spin near that long

Put some actual air resistance on there, and check again how long it actually takes.

Not accurate no compressor housing it will give back pressure to the compressor wheel will slow down faster

I understand that cars of today still lubricate turbos after shutdown?

Buy a naturally aspirated V8 if available, no turbos. Problem solved.

When you engine run iddle, the turbo spin at 100 RPM maximum. Stop the engine and 2 seconds later you turbo is stop.

Not true. That turbine is freewheeling, actual turbos create resistance when generating boost and face additional resistance from the exhaust system downstream and scavenging upstream.

Now put the intake side back on it’ll slow down a lot quicker lol

driving slowly before shutting down is sufficient and common sense.

By the time you pull off the highway and roll through town to the yard that turbo is about as cool as it’s going to get from the testing I’ve done. Let it idle for a minute to slow down and that’s about all you need to do.

It won’t spin that long when you have the system sealed. Air filter and the CAC restricts airflow.

Every time I push the pedaal down when switching gears I hear my turbo spin up. This implies it spins down fully if I release the throttle.

THIS IS NOT A REAL LIFE TEST, IF THE AIR CIRCUT IS SEALED THERE WILL BE VACUUM AND IT WILL NOT SPIN FOR THAT LONG BRO. thx for the efforts tho 😂
