Usually use when behind someone throwing out smoke in a traffic jam or lights. Especially old trucks. Stop pollution coming in even if filters…

funny I only ever use it when going through a tunnel which is badly ventilated to the car doesn't fill with fumes. this was very helpful of you it hadn't really occurred to me that I could cool a car quicker or heated up quicker

Well I use it when I drive in long tunnels with a lot of traffic. An I am talking about looking tunnels. Longest we have here in Norway is 27km

It’s for when you are going through the country side and they are spraying manure in the fields and you don’t want the smell in the car.

Mine shuts itself off after a little while. When I’m in bumper to bumper traffic breathing in all the exhaust fumes, that is not appreciated

So wrong. In Australia the outside temp maybe 30c the inside when you get in is 50c. Use the outside air first for 10min then select recirculating.
