This really dosent make any sense. Yes quenching in oil and water makes the blade too hard most times but that’s why all good knife manufacturers and blacksmiths even temper their blades to a straw color for a good balance of hardness for edge retention and softness to not crack or break. A banana tree or mud would never be exactly repeatable because the tree or mud is slightly different every time.
