Ooooo so the grand strategy is this: if they won’t love us, make them fear us. History has a name for that doctrine; and it never ends with security, only with endless war and inherited hatred. Fear doesn’t build legitimacy; it builds coalitions against you. If survival depends on everyone trembling, then what’s being defended isn’t peace !! it’s permanent conflict dressed up as strength.
