The thing is, lots of women are waking up. We have seen what our moms and grandparents went through. We don't want that. Because of what we have seen and have been told by other women, we can pick up on red flag behaviors much faster. We also have the ability to make our own money, have bank accounts, etc. Me personally, I don't want kids for a large number of reasons. But the biggest one being that women tend to be the "default parent" and get stuck with most of the work. I witnessed this first hand in my mom's first marriage. Not to mention if you get divorced, you get stuck raising those kids alone most of the time. Plus due to custody agreements you have to still see and deal with a man even when you don't want to. No kids means I don't run that risk. I would love kids if I got to be a dad instead of a mom. Plus moms are criticized more and held to ridiculous standards vs dads. You ever see videos of parents making dinner for their kids? On women's videos you tend to see hate comments criticizing the food. On videos where dad's make dinner for their kids, they praise tf out of him. They also criticize the man's wife or gf for not cooking dinner. We also have studies that prove things like this. There was a study where people were shown a messy room in a house. Depending on whether the person who owned the messy room had a man's name or a woman's name determined how harshly the person was judged for the room being in that messy state. Essentially if the messy room belonged to say, Jane, the messy room was criticized heavily. Where as if the messy room belonged to Jack, the room was criticized much less. Women are held to much higher standards than men. So yeah, it's easier for men to want kids than women. Women do most of the work and bare most if the risk.

“I want to have kids“ = “I want you to have the child and I want you to raise the child. I get to put my name on it.“ It’s never I want to fill her life with joy and magic. I want to comfort her when she skins her knee. I want to sob through her Christmas piano recital and give her flowers after like she just premiered at the Carnegie Center. I want to watch her as she discovers everything old as if it were new. I went to struggle remembering the names of her eight BFFs and eventually get them all right. I want to carry her on my shoulders and feel a tinge of sadness knowing there will be a day she’s too big for that. I want to offer her a shoulder to cry on when her goldfish Mitch passes away. I want to watch her go from being a seven-year-old girl that loves wearing dresses and snow boots to being a grumpy teenager who wears nothing but sweatpants and hoodies. I want to be present in her life and help raise the smartest most confident person possible.

Women only benefited more by marriage because they denied us every opportunity to do stuff alone. no bank account no property no jon security. those are basic human needs your husband had to give to you. Now we have them we don't "benefit" from marriage anymore
