I worked for a place for one day. Called the next day and advised it wasn’t going to work, asked them to mail my check to me. They said they wouldn’t until I sent back my “uniform”, which I did via UPS. A week later I spoke with the owner who said he had my check but would send it when he had time, since I left him short staffed. My check was mailed/post stamp 2 weeks after the date of the check. Took him to the labor board and got a full days of pay for every day he withheld my one day check.

Why hasn't anyone else in the company worried about 32 checks being uncollected? At the very least it should have raised a red flag in the accounting department.

this isn't just a failure at the manager level anymore- this is MULTIPLE steps on the ladder that just were not paying enough attention. How on EARTH did a turnover that high just go unnoticed? how did THIRTY-TWO uncashed final paychecks go unnoticed????

Her method of having the checks sent to the store and then throwing them in a safe, then NOT contacting the person is just so shady. A lot of managers and supervisors act like they are the ones paying subordinates out of their own pockets.
