This learnt behaviors. When I was a kid my mom would come home from work and be tired and have an attitude and lock herself in her room. I never had the correct interaction or nor was I ever shown how to communicate after a long day as a kid.

As a parent, I understood and it is OK. Home should be a safe place to say the things you need to say. Just try not going for the jugular.

It's psychology. A small child will cry to his momma because she is his safe zone and she will fix everything. So we behave properly for society but when we get home we let all the negativity and stress of the day out... unfortunately, on the ones we love the most.

It’s overstimulation! As a mother of over stimulated high schoolers I don’t take it personally. It can hurt on so many levels but I know with maturity and growth the outcome can be a great. Understanding and giving time to reset makes it a little easier to enjoy conversations.
