@consulting.connoisseur: Most people hear criticism and go quiet. Or worse… they get defensive. High performers treat feedback like performance data. Here’s the reset: 1️⃣ Regulate first Do not respond emotionally. No long justifications. No instant counterarguments. Say: “Thanks - that’s helpful. Let me reflect on that.” Composure buys you credibility. 2️⃣ Extract the signal Not all feedback is equal. Ask: “Can you share one specific example so I can understand the pattern?” You’re looking for behaviour, not opinion. 3️⃣ Close the loop visibly This is where most people fail. This is key to showing you have drive to take improve hold yourself accountable. Within a week, reference it back: “Last time you mentioned I need to be more concise — I’ve started sending 3-bullet summaries. Would love your thoughts.” Now you’re coachable. Now you’re promotable. Feedback doesn’t damage your reputation. Your reaction to it does. I’m Ahmed. I break down the playbook I wish someone handed me.
