I don't think anyone could have fully explained to me the desperation you feel only sleeping 4 hours at most a day. 😭

I love the realness, and the fact you said “it gets so much better” my son is 7 now but when he was little and I was struggling I just got the “wait till he’s older” etc like great thanks 😂

I remember our first night home from the hospital when she was 6 days old (long story!) and I was convinced the curtains were blowing in our room.... we don't have curtains only blinds. my husband was like urrrrm.... I'll take the baby for bit, you get some sleep! 🫣 what a crazy time! now 2.5yrs later I can laugh, but hooooooo boy was it tough!!!

Btwww how do shifts work? Like do you sleep in different rooms? Or everyone is in the same room and one agrees to wake up in the night to take care of the baby?

I remember the health visitor saying I'll be over after lunch but never told me when lunch was or how much over she'd be. It used to drive me crazy!

I must say 15 years of working night shift for a week at a time, and constant roster changes completely prepared me for the lack of sleep i got having a baby! I didnt struggle at all. But i would imagine being a "normal person" whos sleep schedule gets completely turned upside down would be hard!

The thing is they do prepare you for the lack of sleep but you just don’t understand unless you through it
