Before you come for me in the comments, grab your popcorn and READ! I’ve been a designer for 13 years, and I’ve worked in nearly every web design platform the tech bros have offered us at this point. And I get asked all the time, “do you guys work in Showit?” and the answer is always “No.” Here’s why: Showit was a game changer when it came on the scene. Drag and drop elements anywhere? LOVE! But what it offers in ease of use it lacks in structure and creativity: -Showit only offers one desktop and one mobile view. So you’re basically designing and publishing a site, guessing if the end result will work on multiple screen sizes, tablet, etc. Over 60% of traffic comes from mobile now, and sites that don’t look good and function well on all breakpoints see significantly lower conversion rates. -Showit lacks basic structure. From a technical standpoint, your site will lack consistency since there’s no way to create stable margins, padding, etc. across your site. This sounds like a small detail, but your audience notices when there are inconsistencies site-wide. They might not be able to put their finger on it, but they’ll know it feels slightly off. -Showit lacks basic animations without code. I can spot a showit website a mile away because the buttons have no hover effects (which is without a doubt affecting your conversion rate). -Clients have too much creative control. When you pass off a site to a client in showit, they have access to move anything and everything around, change font styles, change layouts, etc. The result? A website that once looked great that has now been “tweaked” by the marketing team 10x and barely functions. The editor we work in has a client-friendly editor that allows clients and their teams to easily update content (text, images, etc.) without affecting the site layouts or structure. But don’t just take my word for it.
