both me and my horse are learning to collect but hes also slightly fresh so while he will do his best to collect in walk/stand i have to focus more on slowing him down when we trot and canter 😭

As an eventer, I have NO problem with this as long as it the whole body softening, the back is lifting and engaged, and it’s not just the head lowering/flexing, like in saddle seat. If it’s the latter, it IS a huge flex because not everyone can do this right.
