I was blessed to know my great grandmother. She moved here from Italy. She didn’t speak any English. Her name was Filomena, we called her grandma Na and my grandmother‘s name was Assunta and we called her grandma Suzie. My other grandmother was grandma Rose. I sure do miss them, but have lots of memories especially the holidays, where bed sheets were placed everywhere with homemade raviolis on them.

I didn’t get to meet my maternal grandmother but my oldest daughter was born on her birthday. Food and traditions continue to be passed on things I learned from my mother whose name is Antonietta and on our dialect we say D’nutta. ❤️❤️

Josephine 💜lived till she was 97 . With her when she passed , helped her in home until she was 94 and unfortunately had to go into nursing home for 3 yrs . Raised all her siblings and most of the her grandchildren . Taught me so very much , we were a lot the same . I was too blessed . Been gone a long 14 years .

I only had one Nonna. Her name was Yolanda & she was 1 of 9 kids. Her mother, my great-grandmother, died in childbirth with the 9th baby when my Nonna was 7 years old. She & her siblings were raised in a Catholic orphanage because my great grandfather couldn’t take care of them. She was the strongest person I’ve ever known. ❤️

I only knew my maternal grandmother. Her name was Louise and was born in Hartford, CT, in 1900. She was my world and left me too soon. I never knew my paternal grandmother, born in Naples. Her name was Angela Marie. Now I'm the matriarch of my family and proud of it!🥰🥰
