Seeing how this book is a story, whether true or false I'm not here to debate that, but a story nonetheless, literary works use similes metaphors parables ETC in order to tell stories in an engaging way. So that the listener can be able to comprehend what is saying as well as being entertained. It wasn't EVER meant to be taken literal. whether you want to believe that it has something to do with a third of the angels falling with Lucifer down-to-earth or like I seen in one comment above, a person said a third of the tribes of Israel being conquer by the white man. Which is the red dragon. I don't know, but I do know one thing. It was meant to be interpreted for the story it was telling. not taken at face value.

It was prophecy now its history. The red dragon is the wyte man, he cast down (conquered) 1/3 stars,= 3 tribes of the 12 tribes of Israel, (red dragon) the wyte man conquered the Haitians, Jamaicans and American blacks in the 1400's-1600's cast them down from heaven= cast down from thier ruling kingdom ( Africa, Spain, Europe) to slavery and servitude. You have to know the old testament to understand the book of Revelations. There is no contradictions in the Bible.
