I do not agree with this assessment. My husband was diagnosed with ALS at 38 years old and died 14 months later at 39 years. He was “young” and it progressed fast. He also had limbs affected first and then went straight to respiratory muscles.

Eric stated that he did not want to live if he could not communicate with his daughters. He lost his abilty to communicate the week of his passing. I believe he chose to go.

I think Eric Dane may have decided to die with dignity on his own terms. this is just my opinion. if he in fact did, I would completely understand. it would be something I would want to do if I had ALS.

my mom passed from ALS. it started in her speech/lungs. she survived cancer 3 times then got ALS. it was a horrible way to go.

My daughter is 24 and has been fighting ALS for 3 years. I am her primary caregiver, she is bed bound and completely dependent. Last Monday I was also diagnosed with ALS. We carry the SOD1 mutation.
