@thinkingcanine: Street dogs are amazing and I am happy to live in a country where dogs aren’t micromanaged. This was in Colombia on a trip, and Neon learned to navigate many situations. This dog was very forward. I don’t force Neon to lay prone in a down or focus on me… super unnnatural behaviors that lead to fear and the inability to communicate. Instead I watch and step in if needed (and it’s almost never needed). I would never go to a country with street dogs and a loose dog culture and bug out about the dogs… we rolled with it!
She did so good and he was actually quite a decent fella!

Joyful Paws Service Dogs :
This more or less reflects my view of off leash dogs. When we don't make a big deal about it, give slack in the leash, let the dogs interact and then move along, our dogs are much less concerned about other dogs in general. I understand why people get nervous around off leash dogs and it is unfair for reactive dogs, but the way you handled this in the video is how I think the majority of handlers with socially-healthy dogs should approach encounters like this. Great job!
