I am from Tembisa. In average most households have at least 3 tenants in the yard some even more. Unfortunately we need to buy electricity most residents of Tembisa uses free electricity. In my street only two houses buy and my family buying electricity. And the messed up part, they are at 3 tenants per household paying rent of R1400 including electricity.

South Africa has a 33% unemployment rate which means that 1 in 3 people are unemployed. and 50% of people working in South Africa earn below R5 417... you expect people to pay R1000+ for electricity and R1000+ for water while also buying groceries for their families and paying for transport? Wipe the unemployment grant and use the funds to heavily subsidise poor townships on utilities

some of u don't understand the leaving situations in tembisa it's not that people are not paying they are paying but the rates(water)keeps going up and if miss other months not paying they switch off your electricity it's not that tembisa residents they owe electricity
