@tejlalvani: Around half of businesses fail and from what I have seen, mindset is a big reason why. Many first time founders leave a job but keep the employee way of thinking. They rush into offices, furniture and early hires before the business has made any real money. Spending starts before it has been earned, usually because that is what they think an entrepreneur should look like. The reality is simpler. Build the idea. Make some revenue. Then decide what you actually need. Most successful founders I know started at kitchen tables or spare rooms with no ego and tight control of costs. Building a business is not about looking successful. It is about staying solvent long enough to become successful.
Hi tej, what would you say is more critical at early stage startup? Gaining some customers to create repeatable income and getting product feedback to scale up? Or chasing larger deals which could get multiple clients but will likely take longer? Is there a hard and fast rule to this? I’m more for the former in the short term, but interested to see if I’m maybe thinking about this wrong.

100% right! I’m 28 now left my job at 19 years old to run a ecommerce business from my bedroom and levelled up gradually… from a kid from a council estate now turning £250k a year I’m blessed… still not where I want to be but with faith and dedication I’ve never failed

💯for all this! And even more, like for example thinking they need to succeed immediately as they are the brand just like the company they used to work for, but at the beginning you don’t need fancy stuff and you don’t have a brand you have to leave behind everything you used to know
