@seedifferentcan: Why are provincial governments pushing for the privatization of healthcare? The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives put together a socio-economic brief that sheds light on the effects of healthcare privatization by drawing a comparison between 25 countries. (Link to brief: https://www.policyalternatives.ca/news-research/mortality-and-health-care-privatization-a-comparison-between-countries/) The main finding of this analysis is both stark and unequivocal: there is a clear link between greater privatization and higher mortality rates, in terms of both the financing and the delivery of health care services. Here are some incredible organizations fighting against these changes: @ontariohealthcoalition @healthcoalition @nursesunions #CanadianHealthcare #StopPrivatization #Canada #CdnPoli #OnPoli 👉 See Different is a national youth education initiative of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (@CCDISocial) that provides free training and support to young changemakers in Canada. 👈
Yeah - Doug Ford used tax payer money to pay for-profit services. For profit companies should never be funded by tax payer dollars!!!

We already have two tiered. If we don’t have insurance we pay out of pocket. In European countries everything is free or pay at most 5 dollars for prescriptions.

Canada will not be Canada without universal healthcare. We already pay for it. Do we think they’ll cut our taxes??? NOPE!!!

Just think about it. The driving force for private health care is greed not improving health. of course health outcome will be worse when you carve out a huge part of the costs for profit.

How would privatized hospitals work different then doctors offices assuming our care is covered by OHIP as it is now.

I would say I’d like it to be 50/50. Meaning you can chose. Free if you can’t afford or rich also but don’t mind to wait. But if I pay thousands of dollars to get a surgery, I want it before the end of the week

I think the messaging on this is wrong. Universal/mixed is what is most likely to enter Canada, mixed refers to public/private while continuing to have a universal model. Don’t see Canada taking after the states in this regard, more likely to follow counties like Australia & the UK.

I would say leave it alone. Private health care still uses the public health supports like lab and imaging putting huge strains on over burdened system. If you want private you can afford to go else where.

id rather have pay for care but actually get care in time. i have a meet and greet with a potential family doctor - after 5 years waiting. the appointment, not even health related, will be in a month. absolutely ridiculous

We do not have enough healthcare professionals for a two-tiered system. Everyone will go over to the for-profit side ( better wages!!) and will leave the public system decimated.
