the best way i could describe the difference between makina and uk hardcore/other euphoric hardcore genres is 1. the bounciness of the kickbass. Uk hardcore kickbasses are much "flatter" but in the majority of makina tracks theres a distinct gap between the kick and the bass which creates the bouncy sound. 2. makina melodies are usually a lot more dramatic. theyre still definitely euphoric but in a much more dramatic and almost melancholy way compared to the cheesy happy/uk hardcore melodies. im assuming it gets this from its roots in trance 3. the use of screeches. a lot of makina tracks incorporate screeches in the buildups/areas surrounding the main drop. these sections are intended for djs to transition in an out of (it also sounds fucking awesome if you double drop a screech section on top of the main melody drop of another track). this also kind of leads into the idea of "base" tracks. base tracks are specifically designed to be djed ontop of other tracks to enhance them. if youve ever listened to a dj pastis set he uses a bunch of these. sometimes the line can be pretty blurred as to whether something is makina or hardcore but in these cases it makes the most sense to look into the background of the artist or label that released it to come to a decision but either way it doesnt really matter and you could probably classify it as both at the same time lol. a good example of a track that completely blurs the line is DJ Phoenix & Kryvel - Alone. it has all the elements of both makina and UK Hardcore. Banger track.

MAKINA4EVER 🎶👊 but in all seriousness, i love Makina sm!! its so underrated and I dont hear anyone talk about it much! 😓 I think you summed it pretty well too, it is very bouncy in its kicks and incorporates a lot of Happy hardcore/Trance vibes (tbh its one of the harder genres to explain, u kinda have to listen to hear the difference LOL). And fun fact, theres also a version called MC makina, which has extremely fast vocals singed over songs :) One of the popular artist everyone knows is MC mental! stay wikid everyone🤘
