@banksmonaco: Like they made Michael a genius in Suits, but it was cool? All my black friends are tech geniuses, beauty entrepreneurs, economics students etc… Give me the UK dramatisations on TV 😤

Meesha Lewis :

Write something and pitch it! Make the change you want to see. I’d back it 100%

joagh88 :

That's why I stopped watching Netflix. Darkskin women are very rarely represented at all. Tired of it!

Rachaelljwilliams :

This is something I’m quite passionate about and wanted that to be reflected in my debut novel I’m currently writing

Joyce Galugbo :

I currently working on it. I just need a little time.

Lavish Minn :

LOVINA | Lovecombe House 🏡 :

As a Black middle class professional, I’ve been saying this for the longest – let’s throw in upper class too. Was initially very excited for Supercell, as a superpowers/superhuman genre fan but never ended up watching due to the “thug life” storyline weaved into the show’s fabric 🙄🥱. As a Caribbean former West London/Kensington girlie, now living softly in the English West Country in my hilltop Victorian home (thank you Jesus 😌), I’ll be creating life/home decor content later in the year for this very reason – more representation of this VERY much present demographic is needed. This is why I love Paula Sutton (and her daughter) so much as far as upper class representation goes ✨

SFury :

some folks within the black community view a black middle-class as "acting white." it's a shaming tactic and genuinely does suppress the lived experience of a demographic that exists.

Davina Purple :

It’s actively ignored in media!

⠀⠀ :

Word, Pretty solitary being Black Caribbean and middle class as its treated slightly abnormal, and the cherry on top is that im an only child lol

Dub :

Alot of these big media companies are built on the downfall and generic stereotypes. I agree it needs abit of a shift away from the negative

Kᗩᖇᒪ ᑎOᐯᗩ 🕶 :

TV is dying, streaming online on demand viewing is up. No one is gonna create this kind of stuff unless we do it ourselves 🤷🏾‍♂️

sarahakinrinade_ :

You should watch Riches! On Amazon Prime, such a good show & based on a black middle/upper class family

Chinyé :

I rant about this often, representation matters

Westbrook’s Bricks :

There’s nothing stopping us from making these productions ourselves. We don’t because it won’t sell.
