It unwinds a small part of the DNA helix to form the transcription bubble. 2️⃣ Elongation: The RNA polymerase moves along the DNA strand, reading the template. It adds complementary RNA nucleotides to the DNA template in the 5′ → 3′ direction. 3️⃣ Termination: When it reaches the terminator signal on the DNA, the RNA polymerase stops.
