Man! I love film but i genuinely do not care NO one will convince me Love and Basketball is a Horror film😂 I watch that at 8 and fell in love. Soul food, Crooklyn, Blade, the Antwon Fisher story, Barbershop like I watch everything from kdrama- indie- Bollywood.. but black film and media is in my core. It taught me to love film- it’s the basis of my love of media. You cannot love film and NOT love black film

Sat through an hour long video essay on the “100 Greatest Films of All Time” they had one black film on the entire list 😭😭😭 and it’s crazy bc they seriously believe they have nooooo blind spots and that in the century plus of cinema a list of all white, all male directors is a well curated list 😭

As a a film school grad the amount of them that have never even seen Friday is crazy. Only black directors they typically know is spike Lee (even though they’ve never seen his films, he’s just a popular name), Jordan Peele (they’ve only seen Get Out), and Coogler (probably the most popular black director of the last 10 years)
