My guess is the lines give your camera the ability to measure with the algorithm from the app the distance light rays travel apart from center due to prescription levels. The more light or the lines bend the higher the prescription also would indicate direction too to distinguish the difference in + or - precipitations . But this is only my opinion… I could be completely wrong.
