Its cus yall discover something and then neverrrr stop doing it. Still gotta rotate protective styles so its not constant manipulation on one section of your hair. Half wig for a month or 2 , braids, get an install, natural hair for a while, ponytail. Rinse and repeat.

The key to wear half wigs is taking them off every night and buying one preferably your hair texture so you don’t have to use heat
