@leahshomestead: When one of our kits developed nesting box eye, I didn’t grab antibiotics first. I started with supportive care. Warm chamomile compress to gently soften and clean. Raw honey for its natural antibacterial properties. A diluted oregano infusion. And colloidal silver as an additional antimicrobial support option. And it’s working amazing so far. Mild nesting box eye is often irritation and debris. Sometimes simple cleaning and natural support is enough. But here’s where the confusion starts. I keep seeing people say you can’t buy Terramycin anymore without a prescription. That’s not exactly true. In 2023, regulations changed for injectable livestock antibiotics — meaning oxytetracycline shots now require a vet prescription. But the ophthalmic eye ointment version (the topical one used for eye infections) is classified differently and is still available over the counter in many places. Two different products. Two different regulations. A lot of internet confusion. Now — just because I can buy it doesn’t mean I start there. If the eye becomes cloudy, swollen, injured, or doesn’t improve within 48–72 hours? That’s when I escalate. That’s when antibiotic ointment or a vet visit makes sense. Homesteading isn’t about rejecting medicine. It’s about using the right tool at the right time. Natural first when appropriate. Monitor closely. Escalate intentionally. Preparedness > panic. Follow along if you’re raising rabbits and want real management breakdowns — not just highlight reels. #RabbitBreeding #HomesteadLife #LivestockHealth #BackyardFarming #SustainableHomestead

It’s easy to make your own colloidal silver, and I’m literally got all my ducks in a row to start my own rabbits and I just I have chickens. I just wanna be able to do it. I just want to be able to do it. I can do fish and chicken, so why can’t I do rabbit
