One of the best unintentional things that happened to me in Japan was the time difference threw me completely off kilter. I’d wake up every morning between 4-5am without trying. It worked out because I would go to the things I knew would become extremely crowded later on and was always one of the few people there. It was so peaceful, so happy my body wouldn’t let me sleep in lol.
