After years of feeling shame because my ADHD sometimes makes it hard to do the things, I stopped using shaming words. The big ones at my house that I don’t allow are lazy (because nobody is lazy for fun. There’s always an underlying cause), picky (my daughter has sensory issues around food and I will not have her feel ashamed for the way her brain works) and fat (because all bodies are beautiful).
