Because getting attention from a bunch of women might mean you’re attractive, charming, successful, funny, or simply really good at flirting. Cool. Congratulations. 😭 But getting the girl who has spent the last three years telling her friends, “I’m DONE with men,” to suddenly be smiling at her phone like an idiot? That’s a different achievement entirely. This is a woman who has heard every line. She’s watched her friends get played. She’s probably been disappointed enough herself that her standards now come with a security system, facial recognition, and a two-factor authentication code. 😭 She doesn’t trust easily. Compliments aren’t enough. Flowers aren’t automatically impressive. “Good morning beautiful” isn’t getting you through customs. She’s watching consistency. How you speak when you’re frustrated. Whether your actions match your words. How you treat people when there’s nothing to gain from them. Whether she feels peaceful around you instead of constantly wondering where she stands. And then one day her friends notice something terrifying: she’s defending a man. 😭 Suddenly Miss “relationships are a scam” is saying things like, “No, he’s actually different.” She’s making room in her schedule for you, letting you see the soft side she spent years protecting, and slowly allowing herself to believe that maybe loving someone doesn’t always have to end with regretting it. Obviously, being cynical about an entire gender isn’t necessarily a sign that someone is harder or more valuable to “win,” and love shouldn’t be treated like conquering somebody’s defenses. But there is something meaningful about earning the trust of someone who had genuine reasons to be cautious. The flex isn’t that you somehow defeated the manhater. It’s that somebody who had become afraid of giving men access to her heart eventually looked at the way you consistently loved her and thought, “Okay… maybe I can be safe here.”
