That’s ridiculous. You cannot be always only on the giving end of things. It has to be reciprocal and reciprocity does NOT make something transactional. However, only giving and not receiving back WILL end in depletion and separation.

Everything is transactional in the world. You can do things from love, but a relationship like family or husband/wife, or close friends are built on reciprocating, and being their for each other. Not one sided all the time.

25 years ago tony robbins talked about 3 levels of relationship 1 egocentric - I only do things for me 2 horse trading or transactional aka conditional love 3 give without conditions and expectations and that energy will be returned to you

I agree with being kind without expecting anything in return, but I also think that relationships need to be reciprocal because after so many years of giving giving giving giving giving and never receiving it starts to break down the relationship and make you feel as if the other person doesn’t care or see you.
