AHAH HI!! Esther here 🫣💗 someone tagged me and I couldn’t believe someone made a reaction to my little series! honestly I am chuckling at myself for my naivety and optimistic delusion that led me to even respond to (what I now know as) the initial marketing email from Maggie! I had never gotten a marketing/mass email like that and I’ve learned a lot from this experience, including the need to be more discerning, and confirm rather than assume! I am a very very small creator, and I learn more day by day— this was proof of that 🫣 I hope if anything, this situation brings a little bit of laughter to others as I share my embarrassing moment as entertainment, and also teaches brands to be more upfront as well! I would have respected a straight forward no, or even a referral to their collab/corporate email which neither was given until I went in store and spoke with the manager there. All that to say thank you for highlighting this 😂😂 also you are so gorg! 💗💗

Maggie was an AI chatbot 😩 having their chatbot set up to respond to emails is kinda wild as a company though. It should just come back as this email box is not monitored or something.

Oh god, AI marketing emails really did her dirty! 😭 To give her credit, they RESPONDED to her and said “oh yeah, let’s collab”… they ended up making it right and sent her a cardigan for the time wasted and miscommunication though!

I watched the whole thing and she’s really not that delulu. I’m a marketer and for one if it had been a mass email, it would have come from a a no-reply address and her response would have bounced. She had a whole thread with multiple people. For two, the copy didn’t read like a marketing email, it read like an engagement for influencer marketing. I think you do have to clarify the terms first (i.e. what’s involved like gifts etc), but it’s not that crazy that she responded and went.

I work in marketing, an this is definitely not how a mass email blast is formatted. This looks and sounds like a personal email. I’m wondering if they’re using a new AI integration to personalize emails to people based on their interests and confusing emails like this is the result, but Esther is completely valid in her confusion. I would be confused if I received this.

It is that thing they’re doing now where they’re putting an employee name in the email to make it seem like you’re getting one on one attention. It does read like a note to you specifically from a specific person rather than an ad. I don’t blame her for misreading it at all. It’s literally designed to make you feel like you’re getting personal attention.
