We’ll get there someday. I remain skeptical of Donut, but it’s not completely impossible that someone will create a battery that leapfrogs past the current pace of advancement. There was a time not all that long ago that single digit nanometer scale SOCs were considered impossible but now they’re basically the norm.

the closest I've heard in terms of solid state batteries is quantum scape. they currently have working prototypes and working tests inside Ducati bikes. to my understanding they're just trying to figure ways to semi mass manufacturer solid state batteries and are hoping that once it's possible there will be more companies coming in and innovating on their processes to make full solid state cells with all the specs people like donut are claiming
