The City Council didn't get to vote on this. There are multiple State Laws that prohibit local Councils from stopping them. Unfortunately, our Pre-Existing zoning allowed for it. the only thing that could stop it now is community action.

If it’s a data center it’s probably for AI. Those use a ton of water for cooling and is a strain on resources. Gilroy residents are smart.

Amazon bought this property 5 years ago and told Gilroy this is what was going to be built. Everybody already knew, it was a big story after Amazon paid over double the value of the property. Google tried the same thing with the 40acres they bought in Gilroy but they bought it as agricultural land so Gilroy denied their attempt to build a data center. Google now uses the property to grow the trees, shrubs, and flowers for their campuses.
