2 strikers is not a number 9. A number 9 is a lone striker, which was pivotal pre Covid. Now the play style is very direct and trying to be dynamic from the wings instead of the middle of the pitch being dominated.

Strikers back then used to have 1 role and that was stay close to defender, receive ball and score. Nowadays strikers are much more versatile as they need to pressure, come to help midfield, pass out wide or even take up wider positions because it's part of their system. Even someone like CR7 was never a true old school striker as he either played on the wing or as he got older make runs into space made by by his team rather than fight the defender as a traditional 9 did.
