I changed myself because I truly loved her. I fixed the things that once hurt her, became more patient, more loyal, and more careful with her feelings because I wanted us to work. But while I was changing for the better, it felt like she slowly started hurting me instead. I stayed because I believed we could still fix everything together, but it became painful when my efforts were being ignored. What hurts the most is how she kept making me feel jealous because of her friend, especially when they would take pictures together like it meant nothing, even though she knew it was hurting me. I never asked her to stop having friends, but sometimes it felt like my feelings never mattered to her at all. Every time I tried to stay calm and understanding, I still ended up questioning my place in her life. I know I wasn’t perfect, and I know I made mistakes too, but at least I was willing to grow for her. All I ever wanted was reassurance, respect, and the same love and effort I was giving. Sadly, in the end, we still broke up, and the hardest part is knowing I changed myself for someone I truly loved, only to still lose her.
