@sacramentourbanmedia916: A 64-year-old Texas kindergarten teacher is facing a felony charge after authorities say she injured a 5-year-old student while disciplining him for breaking a pencil. According to an arrest affidavit cited by local CBS affiliate KWTX, the incident occurred Jan. 8 at J.H. Hines Elementary School in Waco. Police allege that Pamela Mitchell briefly stepped out of her classroom and returned to learn from a school aide that a student had snapped a pencil. Investigators say she then confronted the child. The affidavit claims Mitchell grabbed the boy’s arm, twisted it behind his back, and pulled him from his chair. It further alleges she pressed her knee into the center of his back to force him into a corner of the classroom. School officials were notified after the child reportedly suffered an arm injury. The situation prompted both an internal district review and an investigation by Child Protective Services. During interviews conducted as part of those inquiries, the child told the principal that the teacher’s actions caused him pain, according to the affidavit referenced by KWTX. Mitchell was arrested by police with the Waco Independent School District and charged with felony injury to a child. A district spokesperson said she is no longer employed there. Records indicate she began teaching at Hines in October 2025 and had previously worked as a substitute while pursuing certification. In a statement to KWTX, the district emphasized its commitment to student safety, saying it investigates all allegations thoroughly to maintain secure and supportive schools. Officials also stated that the child has since recovered and is no longer injured.#fyp #viral
