i think this is an incorrect take.
Nelson Mandela became a global figure and used his platform to expose the injustices of apartheid with extraordinary clarity. As international awareness grew, the citizens of countries supporting or tolerating the apartheid regime began pressuring their own governments to change course. In the end, those same governments ended up praising the very people they had once helped to oppress.

Funny enough, I heard this take for the first time when I studied at UCT. A number of the South Africans in my law class felt this way. They felt so much progress was being made and the reconciliation was a disruption to that progress.

he also set off a couple of bombs in Silverton that killed a few people (including black people) but when you try to google it only Silverton seige comes up. I lived in Silveron and my mom and me as a baby actually walked past a bomb near the post office a few minutes before it went off

cool and I agree. but lose the posturing word salad slop and do the work.....the S.A. economy was on its knees and the ruling class were fearing losing everything not withstanding the effects of sanctions and bad PR that apartheid had. Mandela was released and his route to the presidency and the ANC move into majority rule was a managed transfer based on ensuring the ruling elites maintained power over the main and major industries, international markets and investment was opened up and a Black middle class could be established which will not challenge the essential status quo. Not to liberate tje poor and opressed. Trickle down economics only. There is plenty of evidence of this when you do the work. Stop focusing on sentiments and focus on the verifiable facts. Doing so gives your arguments power - otherwise its just reduced opinion and left vs right. The world has moved so far beyond this myopic approach and yet the left are still stuck in the dark ages. Your generation is expected to do better than political posturing. Do better.
