@awesomeframers: We used to frame around the fireplace up to the vaulted ceiling with full height studs. Fireblocking and firestopping took longer and we had to be very selective in what material we used. It's much more efficient to frame standard height walls with a 3/4" (min) "lid" and then frame up to the ceiling. No fire blocking needed, the top plates take care of that. @DEWALT tools keep us clutter free i.e. no hoses or cords in the way.
