@the7student: If your teacher sucks, self-studying isn’t optional. Self-studying sounds scary because IB subjects are heavy. The textbooks are massive. The mark schemes are weird. So where do you even start? Here’s what I actually did. First, I figured out what I was bad at. Not generally. Specifically. I’d either do past paper questions on a topic or test myself quickly and ask: Do I actually understand this? Or do I just recognise it? Then I gave myself a score out of 5 for every single subtopic. I put it all into a simple table. Every time I revised something, I updated the score. That way, when I sat down to study, I didn’t waste time thinking “What should I do today?” I just looked at the lowest numbers. And attacked those. Over time, the weak topics disappeared. Second thing I did was ask better questions. Instead of saying “I don’t get acids and bases”, I’d ask something super specific like: Why does this step happen? What’s the most common mistake here? What would IB try to test me on in this topic? Back then, I used YouTube and random forums. Now you can literally ask AI to explain it in five different ways until it clicks. Self-studying isn’t about being gifted. It’s about being honest about your gaps and systematic about fixing them. That’s it.
