I started doing a fish less cycle did prime and stability for 7days and then added my ammonia source went up to 1.0ppm and then I added Dr.Fritz and ammonia went down and Nitrites went up and then my nitrites went down but I never got nitrates so I’m debating if going into a fish in cycle

Seachem Prime and Stability daily for 7-8 days. Add Dr. Tims ammonia drops (or a picnh of fish food) on day 1. Test after day two, four and six. You will be up and running in about a week.

so I was told to "feed" the tank like there's fish in it instead of ammonia is this true or am I doing it wrong?

My first tank. While waiting for it to cycle I got bored and added plants through the weeks. Took 4 weeks to fully cycle and probably have too many plants 🤣

the master test kit you show is currently $80 to order where I live, but they have an alternative for $20, and was wondering if the alternative would be good enough its says "9-in-1 water testing strips kit measures pH, total alkalinity, hardness, chlorine, nitrite, sulfate, copper, iron, and ammonia levels in your aquarium water"

Back in the olden days when I started my first tank, common practice was to fill it with your gravel, decorations and, in my case, fake plants then add water. Treat it with conditioner and fire up the filter. Next you would add some fish food daily and run the light 24-7. This would start off the cycle and you knew you were good when you got the cloudy bio-bloom. After that cleared up I threw in some fish. That tank was running continuously for 27 years and survived one move about in the middle. Just retired it and started my new tank using the old tank water and the filters from the old tank. Had to throw my fish in right away since I just trashed their home. Got the bloom a few weeks later. All are doing fine. Don’t be scared of water tests and starters and stuff. You can do it without.

First time fish mom here. I didn't know that I was supposed to cycle the tank? I already got the fish. Can I do this with the fish in the tank?

I understand the ammonia turns into nitrites then into nitrates, but what happens with the nitrates what do I do then

Been cycling my tank for little over a month. Didn’t know any better. Started w/fish. Have 4 glofish still doing good. My ammonia has tested 1-2ppm for a week now. Not getting higher but no sign of nitrite or nitrates either. Is it cycled? Is it close to being cycled? I wanted to add more fish. Water is clear.

Can’t I just take a cup of water from my already established tank and add it into the new one

Pro tip - If you have a tank already keep an extra filter in it. Then you can use it to seed new tanks later and skip cycling.

is it okay if I didn't add any ammonia into the tank but i added plants from other established tanks? tank's been cycling for a month and readings look good with enough biofilm, is the tank ready for neo shrimp residents?

Okay so after this cycling process, when l get the ammonia from 4.0ppm to 0.0ppm in a single day l can add fish right? But do l ever have to do this process again? Because once l add my fish in they will make ammonia, so the ammonia will be so strong it will kill my fish. So another question, how do l lower ammonia?
