@upspiral.life: Neuroscience Method for When Someone Pisses You Off You’re not “short-tempered.” You’re running a neurological habit loop. Here’s what’s happening inside your brain: • The Reticular Activating System (RAS) scans for evidence you were disrespected. • The Default Mode Network (DMN) builds the story: “This always happens to me.” • The amygdala tags it as a threat and activates fight or flight. • The basal ganglia runs the installed script because you’ve rehearsed it before. Anger often isn’t character. It’s repetition. The more times you run the sequence Trigger → Story → Reaction the smoother it gets. Efficiency is not morality. It’s wiring. Here’s how you interrupt the loop at the nervous system level: Step 1 Don’t speak. Don’t text. Don’t explain. Move your body away from the stimulus. Step 2 Inhale 4 seconds. Exhale 6 seconds. Do this for one full minute. Long exhale signals safety to the brain. Step 3 Say internally: “Pause the script.” Then find five neutral facts in the room. Not positive. Neutral. “The wall is white.” “My feet are on the floor.” “There’s a hum from the vent.” What this does neurologically: • Widens the RAS search parameters • Starves the DMN’s narrative loop • Calms the amygdala • Denies the basal ganglia its usual reaction script No repetition. No reinforcement. No deeper groove carved. Attention is a chisel. Repetition is cement. Install a new sequence: Trigger → Pause → Choice. That’s power. Follow me. Comment Upspiral and I’ll send you more information about my unique manifestation program. #neuroscience #emotionalregulation #angermanagement #nervoussystem #personalgrowth
Does the basal ganglia run differently for people with ADHD?

Someone once taught me a trick to “hack” my brain when I developed a fear of heights, and it actually worked for me.
When you get scared or anxious, your body tightens up. So when I feel fear, stress, or any negative emotion, I focus on my hands. I slowly open my palms wide, then relax them, and repeat that a few times. At the same time, I take a deep breath in and then exhale slowly and gently.
The idea is that even if you’re in a scary situation or remembering something unpleasant, your brain picks up signals from your body. If your muscles are relaxed, it can “misread” that as being calm and safe.
That’s how I managed to overcome my fear of heights. I feel like this kind of trick could probably help with things like trauma or anger too.

Finally! Someone who understands its about rewiring those old internal loops, but is able to explain it clearly! Thank you for the information, you have no idea how useful this is to me in my endless journey of undoing a lifetime of learned responses.

So… distance and distract. Upon being triggered, you must 1. distance yourself and then 2. distract yourself.

It feels like this would also work with just generalized emotional responses. Not necessarily anger but sadness, frustration, exhaustion. am I wrong?
